The Answers You Need

  • Ah, the million-dollar question! (But don’t worry, we won’t charge you that much.)

At Hive Point Legal, we believe in fair, transparent, and efficient billing. Here’s how we break it down:

🕒 Hourly Rates: Our standard rate starts as low as $400 per hour, which—considering we bring 20+ years of experience to the table—is actually a steal in the legal world.

💰 Retainers: Most matters require a retainer deposit, which works like a legal tab at your favorite bar—except instead of cocktails, you get top-notch legal work. As we bill against it, we’ll ask you to replenish it as needed while we continue within the original scope of representation.

📦 Flat Fees: For certain matters, we keep things simple with flat fees so you know exactly what to expect. Here are a few examples:

    • Texas LLC Formation + IRS EIN – $1,250 (includes state filing fees)

    • Texas Corporation Formation + IRS EIN – $1,500

    • Texas LLC Formation + EIN + Operating/Partner Agreement – $2,500

    • Updating LLC or Corporate Documents with the State – Varies

    • Small Claims Court Representation (through trial) – $2,500

    • Eviction Representation – $2,000

⚖️ Contingency Cases: Ryan McFarlin’s extensive experience in catastrophic personal injury cases means he will consider taking cases on a contingency fee basis, depending on the matter.

No matter the case, we work efficiently, communicate clearly, and bill fairly—so you’re never left wondering where your money went. Want to discuss your case? Let’s talk.

  • For 30 minutes (phone or video), you have my full attention—no distractions, no multitasking, no checking my inbox while pretending to listen. Just you, me, and your legal issue.

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: yes, we charge for consultations. I wish I could do them for free, but time = money, and my business manager has made it clear that my habit of over-explaining (a.k.a. making sure you actually understand your options) needs to be sustainable.

So, what do you actually get in this consult?

    • You tell your story. I listen. I ask questions. We get clarity.

    • We break it down. I’ll outline an initial roadmap toward a solution, including key considerations and potential next steps.

    • We discuss logistics. What will representation look like? What’s the timeline? What will it cost?

    • You get real legal advice. Not fluff, not vague answers, but practical, experience-backed legal guidance tailored to your situation.

And here’s an important note: Per the law, this consultation is attorney-client privileged, whether or not you hire me. That means what you share stays between us.

If you’re ready to cut through the noise and get clear answers, book a consult.

  • Nope. Well… not without an appointment.

We work remotely, which means there’s no receptionist waiting to offer you a cup of coffee in a fancy lobby. While we do have a mailing address at 7701 Lemmon Avenue, Ste. 260-1008, Dallas, Texas 75209, we rarely go there.

If an in-person meeting is absolutely necessary, we can book a private meeting room or find a more convenient location. But honestly? Working remotely keeps our costs down, which ultimately benefits you.

So let’s keep it simple—phone, Zoom, email, or whatever works best for you.

    Remote Work.

  • Great question! The McFarlin Firm was my legal home from 2008 to about 2018, and it was an incredible journey serving individual and business clients across Texas, Arizona, and Oklahoma. We helped folks in catastrophic personal injury cases, small businesses in commercial litigation cases, and lots of creditors rights work.

But, as with all great adventures, the time came to turn the page. Life led me to:

    • Move to California

    • Dive into healthcare consulting

    • Launch Gogo Mediation

    • Teach at Golden Gate University School of Law

    • And most importantly—start a family

Hive Point Legal is the culmination of all those experiences—a firm that blends my legal expertise, business acumen, and dispute resolution skills to provide practical, strategic, and efficient legal solutions.

So, while The McFarlin Firm may have closed its doors, the spirit of what made it great lives on right here.

    Adventures happened.
